Beauty, History

Our brand has become a uniquely Australian story due to the commitment of the inspirational Mrs Edith Hallas.

A Hungarian-born beauty therapist, Mrs Hallas first arrived in Australia in 1939 with her husband George. It was Mrs. Hallas' relationship with George's cousin, Madam Ella Baché which led her to introduce Ella Baché skincare to Australians.

Eager to share her European skincare techniques with aspiring therapists, Mrs Hallas opened her first Ella Baché College of Beauty Therapy in 1963. One of the first to promote that prevention and protection were paramount in Australia's harsh climate, she was passionate about educating beauty therapists and the public about the skin.

Sadly, Mrs Hallas passed away 24 June 2003 leaving behind this wonderful legacy and a brand that cares for and celebrates the individual.

Her son, John Hallas, continues the family passion for the brand. As the former General Manager, he was responsible for master-minding the public face of Ella Baché through some of the most memorable, high-profile and often controversial advertising campaigns. Mr John Hallas currently holds the title of Chairman.

The phenomenal Australian success of Ella Baché is a testament to the Hallas family's passionate belief in the products, combined with an unwavering commitment to skincare education.
