As we commemorate International Women's Day, we honour the spirit of resilience, innovation, and inclusivity that defines the journey of women across generations. At Ella Baché, this day holds profound significance as we reflect on the remarkable legacy of our founder, Madame Ella Baché, whose pioneering spirit continues to inspire us to embrace bold moves and foster a culture of inclusion.
Madame Ella Baché's story is one of courage, determination, and unwavering dedication to her craft. Born in Eastern Europe at the dawn of the 20th century, she defied societal norms to pursue her passion for skincare and became the first woman to qualify as a pharmacist in Prague. Despite facing adversity and the challenges of two world wars, Ella forged ahead, starting the business in Paris in 1936 that went on to become an iconic household name and one that was built on inclusion with the philosophy that “No two skins are alike”.
Ella's journey exemplifies the essence of boldness—she refused to be confined by gender stereotypes or geographical boundaries. Her relentless work ethic, tenacity, and unwavering focus on her passion for results driven skincare laid the foundation for the international brand that bears her name today.
As we celebrate International Women's Day, we acknowledge that the journey towards gender equality is far from over. While we have made significant strides, there is still much work to be done to ensure that all women have an equal voice and opportunity to thrive. Madame Ella Baché's legacy reminds us that progress requires courage, conviction, and a commitment to challenging the status quo.
In line with this ethos, third generation CEO Pippa Hallas and Ella’s great niece shares, "Empowerment and leadership, to me, are about more than just words—it is about embracing every individual and leading with authenticity and integrity, most importantly 'in my own skin'." This sentiment resonates deeply with our latest campaign, "In My Own Skin," which celebrates diversity and individuality in skincare.
The "In My Own Skin" campaign emphasises the philosophy that healthy skin is unique to each individual, fostering a celebration of diversity and personal identity. We champion personalised Skin Solutions that embrace individuality, steering individuals away from a desire to erase differences with invasive procedures and encouraging them to feel confident in their own skin.
As we celebrate the achievements of women past and present, our purpose in 2024 remains to "Change peoples' lives by giving them the confidence to love the skin they’re in."
Happy International Women's Day from Ella Baché. Let us continue to inspire inclusion, celebrate diversity, and champion the bold moves that will shape a better today and tomorrow for all.
