Ella Baché’s “Empowered in My Own Skin” campaign shines a light on individuality, authenticity, and the confidence that comes from embracing your natural beauty at every stage of life. More than just a campaign, it’s a movement that honours each woman’s unique story through personalised skincare solutions that evolve with her.
At the heart of this campaign is Kate Bell, a renowned Australian model, yoga teacher, and wellness advocate who embodies confidence and authenticity in every sense. In our exclusive conversation with Kate, she opens up about what being Empowered in My Own Skin truly means. From embracing change and celebrating ageing, to nurturing confidence through compassion, curiosity, and connection. Her words reflect the very essence of this campaign: a celebration of growth, beauty, and the freedom that comes with truly owning your story.
If I said the sentence “Empowered in My Own Skin” what does it mean to you?
Empowered In My Own Skin is feeling that I’m honestly present in my life and happy about where I’m at. For me, it also means backing my self-presentation choices, I find this assists in my self-confidence. Then I just allow life to roll out, and it’s one great big adventure.
How does someone show up like that?
For me, it’s taken a lifetime of experiencing many situations, encounters with people, and a consistent curiosity towards life. I’m not afraid to face myself in all my aspects, but I’m gentle with myself, applying radical self-forgiveness when needed. The self-discipline I’ve garnered helps me to strive for freedom of mind, body, and spirit.
Do you see yourself as part of the “Pro-Ageing” movement? What does it mean to you?
The great thing about our media-saturated culture is that mature women are being seen and heard more now than in our lifetime. It helps us all understand ourselves and aspects of our culture better. I’ve stumbled into this arena just by striving to live my best life. I hope others feel the same way about our lucky lives.
Does that inform the way you’d want a pro-ageing skincare brand to speak to women?
Yes, I love that skincare brands are talking more widely to all women. Our skin and bodies change throughout our lives.
Can you please tell us about your top three habits to maintain health and success as you navigate this?
- Eat cleanly - know where your food comes from.
- Movement is essential for mind, body, and spirit.
- Be kind to yourself - listen to your body, respect your intuition.
Is there something about you, it could be a part of you, that has struggled with over your lifetime? It could be either physical or non-physical.
I have struggled with feeling enough.
What advice would you give to people to overcome this and step into your power around this?
Stay your course, doing what you enjoy and are interested in. Those actions will add up and ultimately lead you to yourself. Ultimately, what you once thought were your problems may well become your purpose.
How have you celebrated your own skin’s story?
Every day I wake up and am thrilled to be me, in my own skin! I celebrate through every thoughtful choice I make from the moment I wake. Everything becomes a ritual, something to celebrate being alive.
Do you ever wake up and feel overwhelmed?
No. I had a difficult seven -year cycle from 27-35. However, I haven’t felt this way in decades.
You work with so many women going through menopause. What are the three top tips for maintaining overall health and skin health during this time?
I prefer to share what works for me. If someone specifically asks for my choices, I’m more than happy to share everything I know that works for me. We all have different needs.
Putting yourself out there as an expert at times can be what’s required. Is that something you’ve naturally been good at or something that you’ve had to work at?
If I’m an expert, it’s at staying curious about possibilities. I’m always learning and open to new suggestions. I share what works for me, what I’ve discovered, and what I’ve practiced for much of my life. I honour my creativity and connection with others.
Have you ever looked at your story and realized there was something holding you back?
We only ever hold ourselves back. Sometimes I think we forget that we are the only people actually living our lives. How we love and care for ourselves shows in EVERYTHING we do.
How do you embody your story at this time, enough to get other people on your journey?
I aim to be present in all real-life interactions. I happily share my experiences through honest conversations in all social settings.
What is the one thing you would do right now if you had the courage to really feel Empowered in your Own Skin?
I’m doing it right now! #nowandkate. Now is all there is.
