The Three Skincare Swaps You Want To Make This Autumn

The Three Skincare Swaps You Want To Make This Autumn

As the weather starts to cool many of us delight in reaching for our winter warmers, chunky knits and 3pm hot chocolates. But, as we know, the change in season takes no prisoners – particularly when it comes to our skin.

At first, the rosy cheeks and pink tipped nose is cute, but more often than not, this quickly turns to a complexion that is dry, lacklustre, sensitised, and dehydrated.

Why you ask? “Our skin never stands still, the overachiever, the multitasker, it is constantly reactive to the environment it is exposed too. Throughout the summer months, our skin tends to enjoy the extra oil flow and sebum it produces, allowing for a dewy, radiant complexion. Come the cooler seasons our capillaries become constricted, and our barrier function compromised leaving the skin dull, dehydrated and at times reactive.” Explains Gina Cook, Ella Baché National Education Manager.

So, with this in mind, we are getting a head start on winter skincare and recommend you read on as we swap out our light and lustrous summer rituals for ultra-nourishing day creams and treatment oils.

Swap to a Nourishing Milk Cleanser

With the drop in temperature, it’s time to swap out your lighter, more refreshing formulas for creamy, milk-based cleansers. In the evening, we recommend a double cleanse, starting off with an oil-based cleanser to remove surface impurities, such as Botanical Cleansing Oil, nutrient rich, it is designed to rebalance and strengthen the skins barrier function. Next up a milk-based cleanser such as Moisture Rich Cleansing Milk, lightweight it is enriched with plant extracts that work to gently cleanse the skin whilst maintaining the natural pH, the result? A complexion that is soft and nourishing.

Switch out your Serum

“When it comes to choosing your perfect serum, a bespoke approach is recommended”, says Gina. “Our expertly trained Ella Baché therapists will select a serum that is tailored to your individual needs, and quite often look for active ingredients that focus on repairing the skin whilst protecting the barrier function.” Key ingredients Gina noted throughout the autumn season are Hyaluronic Acid, which can be used year-round to maintain hydration and boost luminosity, whilst Retinol infused serums are re-introduced in autumn and winter to help reduce any pigmentation from the summer, also increasing cellular turnover and boosting collagen. She also promoted the use of Niacinamide, which rebuilds and maintains a strong barrier function.

We recommended:

Boost with a Treatment Oil

The glorious treatment oil, designed to literally bathe your skin in moisture throughout the cooler months (or anytime of year for that matter). Throughout autumn we reach for a range of Ella Baché A-Beauty Treatment Oils. Not only are they a real treat for your skin, but they also repair and protect, while absorbing deep into the skin, allowing for a complexion that is luminous and hydrated.
