Sheridan, the new owner of Ella Baché Dubbo, is a beautiful example of how dedication and the right support can lead to a rewarding new chapter in business ownership.
Having spent many years as a valued therapist within the Ella Baché Dubbo salon, Sheridan recently took the exciting step of becoming the business owner, continuing the legacy built by former owner Christine, who led the salon for 25 years.
“Working for Christine for a number of years definitely had an influence on me buying the business,” Sheridan shares. “She was always such a wonderful boss, consistently kind, supportive, and someone who genuinely cared about her team. Seeing the way she ran the salon and the culture she created really showed me what a great workplace could look like.”
Christine’s mentorship played an important role in shaping Sheridan’s vision. “It planted the seed that one day I might like to continue that and create the same kind of environment for my own team,” she says.
Now as a salon owner, Sheridan is guided by values that reflect both the Ella Baché philosophy and the needs of her local community, kindness, integrity, and consistency. “In a smaller community like Dubbo, relationships matter so much. Showing up, doing what you say you will do, looking after your clients, and supporting your team goes a long way. Creating a positive and supportive environment for both staff and clients is something I really value.”
Before stepping into ownership, Sheridan had already built a strong reputation as a trusted and much-loved therapist, including being recognised through the Ella Baché Awards. For her, this recognition is meaningful, but it is the connections she has built that matter most. “It’s really special to be recognised by the network, especially when you’re surrounded by so many talented therapists. But for me, it has always been about the relationships with my clients and team.”
For therapists considering the next step into salon ownership, Sheridan offers thoughtful advice. “Make sure you surround yourself with the right people and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Owning a salon is very different from being a therapist, so having support and learning from others who have done it before you is incredibly valuable. Also, focus on building a great team and culture, everything else tends to grow from that.”
Being part of the Ella Baché network has been a key part of her journey. “The support and sense of community are so important. Running a business can sometimes feel isolating, so being part of a network where you can share ideas, learn from others, and celebrate each other’s successes is really valuable. There is always someone willing to help or offer advice.”
Looking ahead, Sheridan is focused on nurturing continued growth within her team, creating a supportive environment where each member has the opportunity to develop and thrive in their career.
