Pippa Hallas Chairs Retail Roundtable

Ella Baché CEO Pippa Hallas co-chaired the annual Australia New Zealand Retail Roundtable held in Sydney 29-30 May 2019.

The Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) represents CEOs across a range of industries in over 30 countries. Pippa, a member of YPO for 6 years, was the co-chair and organised 2019 annual event.

The Round Table brought together CEOs from Australia and New Zealand across a range of industry sectors including Amazon, Aldi, Costco, Afterpay, Bras and Things to name a few big names in business. We aim to explore current trends and issues impacting retailing and customers today and in the future. We draw on the expertise of external resources as well as the wealth of experience YPO members in the room to discuss the head and tail winds facing retailers.

A tour of Sydney’s Tiffany&Co and Platypus stores highlighted that customer experience and innovation is fundamental at all ends of the market. Knowing your customer and brand stand for strong purpose, making in-store experience that is aspirational to different segments is crucial. Participants also looked at unlocking value across the supply chain to enhance the customer experience in a site visit to the Pitt Street Platypus store who are exploring “store to door” delivery options where a product may not be immediately available.

Pippa chaired panel discussions where participants shared insights on technology, investors, and social trends.

The round table was the chance for other industry leaders to come together, share challenges faced in business and felt across the industry as well as how they have applied innovation and technology to transform their business.

“The focus for the Ella Baché strategy has been driving innovation in-store and online, to ensure the customer experience is remarkable. Technology and content have enabled change to be driven at the front and back end of the business, to ensure that we can set up for the future”, says Pippa.

“Running a business today is about taking bold moves and making unexpected decisions,” says Pippa.

The success of the round table is another accolade in what has been stellar year for Pippa who earlier this year released her debut autobiography, BOLD MOVES, a personal celebration of her Great Aunt and founder of Ella Baché, Madame Ella Baché Brummer’s achievements and progressive thinking.
